From Gaza with hope: Rawida’s plea for survival

I am creating this campaign on behalf of Rawida, a 19 year old young woman from Gaza. I am writing from the cold reality of what life has become for her. And this is her story…

“I come from northern gaza, once a place full of life and light. Today, it is unrecognizable – shattered buildings, silence where laughter once lived, and constant echo of drones and other military tools. I now live with my extended family in a barely habitable space, surrounded by rubble. We have no electricity. We barely have food or clean water. Some nights, we go to sleep hungry. Other nights, we don’t sleep at all.

I don’t ask for much. I simply need your assistance to help reach my goal to survive everyday.

Before this war, I lived a simple life. I had a loving family and a dream: to pursue my study, to work, to one day support my parents and younger siblings. I wanted to finish my study in university, travel one day, and maybe build something stable and beautiful.

But this war – it took more than homes. It took away dreams, loved ones, dignity and security. I have lost many friends. I have seen children crying from hunger. I have seen children look for relatives who will never return.

What hurts the most is feeling helpless – unable to feed the people I love, unable to protect them.

But I still have faith. I still believe in people. I still believe there is good people in the world – that there is someone out there, who is reading my story right now, who might care enough to act. To give. To help people like me survive through this horrible chapter of our lives.

Every small act of support is a light in our unbearable night.
